Our docents, under the leadership of the Docent Council, are the educators for the Museum and the personal outreach to our visitors. We conduct tours and help host special events for organized groups, school classes, and individuals. Most of all we enjoy contact with many interesting people from all over the world.

The 2027 program starts on January 6th, 2027. Starting that week, every week after that will have a session at 6 p.m. on Wednesdays, ending on April 28th. A tentative schedule is posted below the form, and it is subject to change.

Class begins every Wednesday at 6 pm – to 8:30-45 pm - from JANUARY 7 through APRIL 29, including 3 Saturday morning sessions. Some Wednesday night sessions may go until 9 pm.

After graduation, before docenting, you will be responsible for completing a Background Check, which includes finger printing, at an additional $40 fee (approx. cost). The fee will be collected about

the 12th week. An online sexual harassment Q & A, required by the state DOJ, also must be taken, but it is free of charge and takes only about 30 minutes.

Upon graduating as a Docent, new docents should commit to a minimum of 6 volunteer hours per month, in 3-hour shifts every two weeks. Other volunteer opportunities may be available.

If you drop out the 1st month, the $50 fee or that part of the $99 fee is refundable for 3 weeks, with return of materials. The Museum membership portion ($49) of the $99 is not refundable but will

be credited as a one-year membership in the Museum, with one-year free entry to the Museum. After 3 weeks, if you drop, the $50 training fee or that portion of the fee is not refundable.
