Update on our Capital Campaign-October 2016
As we just “weathered” our first rainy weekend of the fall season, we are reminded how important our “Raise the Roof!” capital campaign really is! Once again, as the rain penetrated our leaking roof, docents and staff got out the buckets and mops, re-positioned and covered cars, and made emergency patches to the roof where we could. And still the rain comes in. Until we can finally replace this roof, we simply cannot reach this fine Museum’s full potential – and there is so much potential!
The good news is, we have raised nearly 75% of the $750,000 we need to make those badly needed roof repairs. As of October 15, we have received donations and pledges of $550,000, most of it from our docents, Board of Directors and staff. We have also received some very generous donations to the capital campaign from a handful of Museum supporters who appreciate the important role the California Auto Museum plays in Sacramento’s civic vitality.
Our goal is clearly within our sights. Getting there means the Museum staff and volunteers will never again have to scramble to put out the buckets, cover the collection, mop up the floors and apologize to our visitors for the mess.
But we aren’t there yet.
We have just four months left to meet the requirements in our lease with the City of Sacramento that we demonstrate we have the ability and means to repair the roof. Just four months to raise the remaining $200,000 we need.
Please consider making a contribution today to our Raise the Roof! Capital Campaign to replace the Museum’s leaking roof.
