How to Schedule a School Tour
Classes and programs for youth and adults may be scheduled year-round, two weeks in advance. Just follow the steps below:
1) Choose a school tour from our list that best fits your group.
2) Review The Museum’s School Tour Policies:
Payment in full is required on the day of the scheduled field trip or tour reservation. An invoice for each reservation will be sent and will serve as confirmation of the field trip or tour reservation. A late fee of $50 will be charged for past due accounts. The California Automobile Museum accepts checks and all major credit cards and can take payment over the phone by calling the Museum at (916) 442-6802 seven days a week from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Cancellations and Rescheduling: We require at least 72 hours notice in order to cancel or reschedule a program. No refund will be given for notice of cancellation which is less than 72 hours. If payment has not been received, you are still responsible for the full amount of the program, plus the $50 late fee for past due accounts.
Late Arrivals: If you are aware that you are going to be late for your scheduled program; we ask that you please call the Museum at (916) 442-6802. Please note that the program length may be adjusted due to late arrivals. Late arrivals of more than 30 minutes may forfeit their scheduled program. Full payment is due upon arrival.
Group Size: A minimum of 10 students qualify for the school tour rate. Smaller school groups need not make a reservation if they do not require a docent-led tour or specific tour from the student program. If you have reserved a docent-led tour you are still required to pay the minimum school tour rate for 10 individuals regardless of group size. We recommend school tours be kept to under 50 student for docent led tours. Larger school tours with more than 50 students may visit and tour with alternative formats. Please contact the Education Program Coordinator for information about alternative school tour formats.

We require 1 adult chaperone for every 8 student visitors ages 5 – 17 and 1 adult chaperone for every 5 students under the age of 5. These adult chaperones are admitted free of charge.
