2019 Docent training

We will commence our 32nd docent training class on January 9, 2019.

The class meets weekly, every Wednesday at 6:00 pm. The 21-week program includes instruction in automotive history, vehicle makes, working with the public, and interpretation skills. Nearly 50 automotive and museum experts are involved in course instruction. Extensive knowledge of motor vehicles is not required.

Prospective docents must be 18 or older. Docent class graduates should plan to commit to eight volunteer hours a month for two years following completion of the course.

Docents are required to complete the 21 week training course and pay a $99 training fee.  The fee includes a one-year membership in the museum, course materials, one-time admission to the National Auto Museum (Reno) and the Blackhawk Auto Museum (Danville) as part of the course, and the opportunity to drive a Model T Ford as part of the class.
